Hello, I'm Casey, also known as... The Creative Spoonie, it's so very nice to meet you! Thank you for checking out my website 😃

As a creative type at heart, I'm constantly dreaming about my next project, but my creativity and motivation to work on projects took a major hit when chronic illnesses and pain caught up with me, and became a part of my everyday life in early 2009. Prior to that time I would come up with an idea and quickly act on it. I was your typical, busy, working wife and mom of four boys; however I still found the time to work on some of my favorite hobbies like crafting and gardening.

Adjusting to a new reality can be very difficult, it definitely was for me, however as a typically happy person, I eventually realized that I could still enjoy my life like I used to, it would just look a little different now.  I have finally learned how to listen to my body's signals a little more, I take breaks now,(lots of them) and I give myself some grace when it comes to my expectation's, too many of them can really get you down on yourself... Anyway, my "creative" days look a bit different now, and I've learned to celebrate the little successes in life a bit more; but I still love to come up with ideas for the home & garden, just ask my husband😆  The only difference is now I've realized that I don't have to work at something for an entire day to feel accomplished. Even ten or fifteen minutes of doing something you love can change your outlook and brighten an otherwise very hard day.

Long story short, this is how my online persona the "Creative Spoonie" came about, I was still the same creative type who loves to work in the garden, come up with crafty ideas, and do all those DIY projects; however, I was now also a #Spoonie (see definition below) who had some rather serious limitations.  Once I learned how to give myself some more grace, and forgive my body for trying to betray me, I allowed myself to start dreaming again, and slowly but surely progress began to follow...One thing hasn't changed though, and it probably never will, I have way too many plans, and too many ongoing projects... just the way I like it!  Hopefully you'll stick around to see what I get up to next...

See you soon -Casey 🫶

What Is A Spoonie?

A "Spoonie" is anyone who struggles with having enough energy or stamina to complete the simple daily tasks that for most people are just done without much thought; for example: showering, washing/styling your hair, or cleaning the house. This would also include the more fun tasks like visiting with family & friends, attending events, or spending time on any interests or hobbies. We can easily take the ability to do all of the above and more for granted, that is until we're no longer able to do them without significant effort. You don't have to live with chronic pain, chronic illnesses, or physical disabilities to consider yourself a Spoonie.  In fact it can also be a helpful tool for those living with mental health conditionsl. Afterall, those with anxiety, depression, or ADHD often find themselves with limited energy to get things done as well...

The Spoon Theory Explained...

The Spoon Theory was coined by the writer: Christine Miserandino, she used it to explain how having Lupus affected her ability to complete the simple tasks of everyday life. She also came up with the analogy of using "Spoons" as units of energy to show how much energy you have left. Once you're out of spoons, you're essentially done for the day whether you like it or not, as you've spent what little energy you may have started with on that day...  #NeverEnoughSpoons

Let’s Grow, Share, and Learn Together 🏠👩‍🌾🐝🦋🪴✂️📒👜

Your support of my YouTube Channel means the world to me! Every Like & Comment helps more than you know! When you Subscribe & Hit That 🔔, it tells YouTube that you’re interested in seeing more videos from me; I can’t grow without you & I want you to feel like a valuable part of the community I’m trying to create. My plan is to compile a video journal of sorts, where I document some of the many changes that are coming to our home & garden over the next few years, plus a bit of whatever else I’m up to here & there. When you move slower than you once did it’s often very hard to notice any progress at all; by documenting more of it I’ll have a record of all the changes & progress; this will also serve as a guide to help me decide what worked/didn’t work…

Hopefully as I improve my filming & editing skills the content will become more entertaining, and the channel will become a friendly place to visit for some simple gardening tips, crafty project ideas, and a collection of helpful videos/links to things that might help you in and around your own home & garden. I would love to build the type of online community that encourages people to share experiences & creativity too; if everyone participates in the comment sections we can help each other find more ways to enjoy the little things in our everyday lives, because even on our worst days we can seek out, and cherish those little moments to be thankful for!

If nothing else I hope this channel will become one of those channels you watch with your morning cup of ☕️/🫖 because you just want to see what I’m up to, or check out what might be blooming in the garden this week… I don’t know about you, but that’s how I experience my favorite channels; they’re just part of my regular routines at this point, my friendly online places to visit while I do __________ around the house, regardless of what the YouTuber’s video is about… I’m hoping to earn your subscription & be one of the regular channels on your list, and your new online friend too✨ -Casey🫶
