Introducing Casey And Her New Adventure As The Personality Behind The Creative Spoonie Home & Garden Lifestyle -Channel!

Hi Everyone, I'm Casey,

I am online as: @Creative_Spoonie ; In 2016 I started a Facebook Page called "Life Beyond The Pain", it's become quite popular, and because of it's growth over the years it's afforded me the opportunity to start on this journey of content creation. It's also allowed me to earn an Amazon Affiliate Storefront (link: top/bottom)  If you shop there regularly, please consider using my links, it won't cost you anything, and you're still eligible for any sales and coupons available, but it will help me to eventually earn a small commission, and in turn help my channel, so I thank you in advance. Now that the business is out of the way...

If I look at all familiar to you and your're not sure where you've seen me, it may be because my family was featured on the widely popular show EMHE (abc: late 2007). Our episode was two hours long, and aired in January of 2008. It was a wonderful, humbling experience for our entire family, and one we will be forever grateful for. After our build we were able to visit with the crew, and volunteer on two other builds in the New England area; one in Maynard, Massachusetts, and another in Lyme, New Hampshire. It was exciting to see the other side of things, and in turn help out other the families as well. It was especially cool to witness the "move that bus" moment from the perspective as a bystander, because that moment for us was such a whirlwind, one that seemed to play out in almost quiet, slow-motion, even though the surrounding crowd was cheering the entire time. Anyway, It's now been just shy of 16 years since we "moved that bus",  and we haven't changed much over the years. However, every house eventually needs some things done to it, especially after a large family really lives in it each day. A homes main areas are always evolving according to the needs of the family that lives within. Now that our family has grown up, even though a few of our four boys still live at home, we're ready to start (slowly) making those much needed changes. How we use our spaces has changed over the years, especially since my health issues have impacted how I live within them each day.

I won't be sharing everything, because I'm pretty sure a lot of my family are camera shy, aren't we all?  Anyway, I'll be sharing as much as possible, and will be bringing you along for all the things. There will be some simple home maintenance & upkeep type projects, a bit of organizing, and some much needed furniture updates, all those years of boys being boys, their friends, and multiple pets...  I'll also be sharing some simple seasonal decor changes, with some fun DIY's and crafting.

Unleashing Creativity in Every Corner of Your Home, And Living The Creative Lifestyle Despite Your Circumstances...

My new channel and blog will be full of ideas and inspiration for anyone looking to infuse their lives and living spaces with some creativity, or a fresh outlook.  I'm all about finding some joy in the mundane tasks of everyday life, because lets face it, sometimes all we have the energy, or time for is the things we need to check off our lists. On my worst #SpoonieLife days I still try to look for one good moment to be grateful, it could be as simple as seeing a new bird at our feeders while I enjoy my morning coffee; this focus on the good mentality helps me to maintain a more positive and grateful outlook. These moments might be harder to find when we're stressed out, battling chronic pain, anxiety, or any of the many issues of modern day life.  But it's often those little moments that can truly make or break how you feel on any given day.

Whether you're a self-described  "Spoonie" (see definition on: my homepage) like myself struggling with chronic health issues, and chronic pain; or someone who's simply too busy, and so stressed that you can't slow down, you'll likely find something helpful in my content to come.  There truly is beauty all around us, even with all that's going on in the world. My experiences as a Spoonie have only helped me to seek out more of these simple, beautiful things in life. My hope is that by sharing some of them, I can help you stop and notice them more too. In my case, being forced to slow down; almost completely at times, may have been a blessing that came along with all the struggles. I won't get into all my issues just yet, but I'm sure we'll talk about some of them in future content. Let's just say I've learned from them, and now know that I'm not always in control of what my body does, but I can control how I look at things, and I can set up, and work-in some small routines to help make my life and home run more smoothly. If nothing else, these little routines bring me comfort on those harder days; you know the ones...  when it's so hard to see any real "Life Beyond The Pain"; regardless of what "pains" you deal with. See what I did there? Shameless plug for my facebook page... ; )

Creating Beautiful Spaces... Indoors & Out

My interest in home related things like decor, organization, houseplants, & DIY keep my better days quite full, and I'll bring you along for all of it...  But creativity doesn't stop at the front door.  My passion for gardening and growing all the beautiful things, and attracting all the little pollinators has only grown since being stuck at home as a full-time Spoonie.  Afterall I have more time on my hands to dream up projects, and gather all of the seeds and tools I might need... My eagerness to add to and transform our outdoor spaces is only limited by my physical stamina, or lack there of, but with the help of my supportive hubby Rey, projects to come should go off without a hitch, getting him to appear on video though, may be the bigger issue. Who knows, maybe one or two of the boys will pitch-in too... A girl can dream right?

You can expect some general planting & maintenance tips, from a more laidback perspective, to some unique garden ideas you might not see elsewhere. I look forward to bringing you out into the yard and sharing my own personal gardening style in the seasons to come. We have a unique outdoor space where it's often hard to fit in all the things a gardener might want. We once had a smaller house on this property with a huge back yard. Now our home takes up the majority of our property, leaving us a very limited urban landscape to work with. This smaller scale hasn't hindered us in attracting wildlife though, we see a variety of birds, including birds of prey, small animals of all sorts; and too many pollinators to count, which I absolutely love. Here in New Hampshire, which is growing zone 5b, we're coming into what I like to call my planning season. I use the cooler months, and harsh winter days ahead to dream about what I'm going to plant next season. I was built for this hibernation season, as I'm a self-confessed seed hoarder like many other creatures, except I don't eat them, I just dream about the beauty and potential they hold within. I'm not at all asshamed of my habit, not one bit. Afterall, it's the most affordable way to add some beautiful things to your garden, plus it gives you things to do in the dead of winter when most things outside are cold and gray. Growing from seed is also a great way to learn what works, or doesn't in your zone.  I have failed in my gardening endeavors many times, but seeds are an affordable way to learn, and these failures have only made me more eager to try again. Whether you dream of a vibrant, long-blooming flower garden, zen inspired spaces, or a productive herb & vegetable patch,  I'll try to demonstrate how making some small changes throughout the seasons will lead you to the gardens of your dreams.

Living a Creative Spoonie Lifestyle

I believe that a creative type is always that, even when abilities and skills have to shift.  What makes a creative personality happy is coming up with new ways to be more creative in everyday life. My new normal as a Spoonie has me trying to complete creative tasks in smaller blocks of time than I once had to, but it hasn't stifled my need to create. I plan out more manageable projects now, and often work in 10-15 minute blocks, sometimes that's all I've got in me for weeks on end; but progress is progress, and the finished products are just as rewarding to the soul regardless of how long it took. It is helpful to make our interests a part of our every day lives, even when we're unable to be actively involved in them. By keeping that  creative spark going, or dreaming about whatever we truly enjoy doing, we can keep a hopeful attitude going, and your time away from whatever we like to do will feel more like a brief interruption instead an ending, regardless of how long we're away from our chosen outlet.
